Objectives:

The B.Ed. (Special Education) Programme aims to develop Special Education teachers / Educators for children with disabilities for various settings (Including inclusive, special, open school and Home Based Education). The B.Ed. (Special Education) will prepare human resources to enable them to acquire knowledge and develop competencies and skills to impart education and training effectively to children with disability as well as all other children and this being teachers for all children. After completing the B.Ed. (Special Education) Programme the student will:

a. Acquire knowledge and skills about human development contemporary Indian education and pedagogy of various school subjects and assessment for learning.

b. Acquire knowledge and skills about nature and educational needs of children with specific disability.

c. Develop conceptual understanding of education provisional and skills for working with children with various disabilities in special and inclusive setting

d. Enhance knowledge and skills for professional development.

The course / programme will be of two academic years with yearly term and Examination.

Eligibility for admission:
B.A / B.Sc / B.com or an equivalent degree at graduate level depending on the requirements of bieng the school subject for pedagogical courses and for the particular course with minimum 50% in the qualifying degree examination .45% for SC,ST,OBC candidates.

Admission procedure:
As per Savitri Phule University norms and Higher Education Department Govt. of Maharashtra conducts CET Examination in month of May/June.

2)Diploma in Education – Special Education (Hearing Impairment)

D.Ed. Special Education (H.I)

 

Recognition:
Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi.

Human Resource development is one of the major objectives of Rehabilitation Council of India. Diploma in Special Education is a important step towards generating teachers to promote and facilitate and equal enjoyment of child rights and fundamental freedom from pre-school to primary level.

The said course envisages addressing the special needs of children who are Deaf & Hard of Hearing so as to achieve the national goal of Universalization of Elementary (UEE) and Education for All(SSA). It is also designed for contributing towards achievement of Millenium Development Goals (MDG) by way of preparing the teacher trainees to meet the challenges of all around development of the children . The course will enable pre-services teachers to acquire knowledge ,develop competencies and practice skills to impart education to Deaf & Hard of Hearing children. The general objective of the course is to prepare special teachers at pre-primary (Nursery,Kindergarten etc.) and primary (I to IV)-lower primary and (V to VII)-upper primary levels to serve in the following settings:
i) Special schools
ii)Integrated/Inclusive setup
iii)Itinerant programmes

Eligibility criteria:
Students who passed 10 + 2 or its equivalent examination in any stream with at least 50% for Open category and 45% for OBC/SC/ST . or reservation as per Maharashtra State Govermrnt are eligible for the course .

Admission procedure is merit based and it start every year during month of May-June .

Examination Scheme:
Examinations are conducted by Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Hearing Handicaped (AYJNIHH) as per RCI’s Scheme of Examination.
Total marks for Theory & Practical:= Theory -540 marks per academic year -1080 marks for both the years
Practical -800 marks per academic year(1600 marks for both the years).
First semester :Theory ,4 papers,-300 marks;Practical -350 marks
Second semester :Theory ,2 papers,-150 marks;Practical -450 marks
Third semester :Theory ,4 papers,-300 marks;Practical -320 marks
Fourth semester :Theory ,2 papers,-150 marks;Practical -480 marks

3) Diploma in Hearing Language & Speech (D.H.L.S.):

Rehabilitation Council of India has recognized the Diploma in Hearing, Language & Speech program to our institute in academic year 2002-2003. It is recognized by R.C.I. New Delhi & A.Y.J.N.I.H.H., Mumbai. This is a one year practical oriented program.

Aim:
Aim of the programme is to train personnel and equip them with the basic skills for providing speech language therapy, for conducting programs for early identification of persons with communication disorders, educating people on prevention of communication disorders.

a) Duration of the course:
The duration of the course is one year, which can be completed in a maximum of two years from the date of admission to the program.

Eligibility criteria:
1) Pass in 12th Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics / computer science.
2) Minimum 50% marks for OPEN and 45% marks for OBC / SC/ST candidates is required.
3) Candidates age should be < 21 years on 1st July of the year of admission.

b) Medium of instruction:
English / Hindi, or any other regional language.

c)Criteria for passing :
40% for each in theory and IA. 50% in each of the clinical (practical) examinations.

d)Intake capacity:
25 student per academic year.

Admission procedure for courses starts every year in the month of May/June:
Rehabilitation Council of India has changed the curriculum in the year November 2015 which will be implemented for the academic year 2016-17.

 

e)Attendance :
Minimum 80% attendance in theory and 90% in practical classes is required.The assessment of student is done during the tenure in terms of pre-mid term exam , mid term exam ,class test ,post midterm and the end there will be final theory examination conducted by the examing body nominated for this purpose by Rehabilitation Coucil of India (RCI) .They also have to attend final Speech and Audiology Oral Viva . The successful candidates who pass in theory and practical examination will be awarded the diploma/certificate by the examing body nominated for this purpose by the Rehabilitation Council if India (RCI).

f)Scope of the course :
They can work as Speech and Hearing technician or Assistant Speech Therapist in different set-up like Govt. Set up ,Semi-govt, set up under the guidance of a fully trained graduate or post graduate Speech and Hearing clinician , in the present scenario there is a great demand for speech and hearing professionals in these various set ups.
